The Venue with a Heart: Our Ethos
When you hold your event at the Temple of Peace, all the profits go to the charity that runs the venue, the Welsh Centre for International Affairs (the WCIA). The WCIA's vision is that everyone in Wales contributes to creating a fairer and more peaceful world. We do this by inspiring learning and action on global issues through delivering high quality global education, promoting peace and human rights and supporting international development from Wales.
Our core values, of protecting human rights, promoting peace and sustainability and supporting everyone in Wales to play their role as global citizens, are reflected in how we run the venue. We carefully source our suppliers, looking for those who take their responsibilities to the environment seriously and who make a positive contribution to the communities around them. We work with caterers who use fairly traded or locally sourced produce and who pay their staff the living wage.
The Temple of Peace is home to a total of seven charitable organisations:
The Welsh Centre for International Affairs delivers global learning that prepares Wales for our shared futures and inspires global action in communities and organisations across Wales.
Oxfam Cymru's purpose is to help create lasting solutions to the injustice of poverty. They work to end poverty locally and globally, making this central to public and political life in Wales.
Fair trade Wales
Fair Trade Wales aims to support, grow and promote the Fair Trade movement in Wales.
In mid 2009 a number of African Diasporas in Wales met to consider how they might collectively advance their common interest in International development by supporting work carried out by other Welsh international development organizations. The Sub Saharan Africa Advisory Panel (SSAP) was born.
Size of Wales
Size of Wales encourages the people of Wales to help tackle climate change by taking simple positive actions. We work with schools and businesses to raise funds for forests and raise awareness of the importance of forests in tackling climate change.
We enrich communities, link by link. We facilitate partnerships between schools, teachers, hospitals and administrations. We focus on improving understanding and improving infrastructure – to create sustainable change for people in Lesotho and Wales.
Cymorth Cymru is the representative body for providers of homelessness, housing and support services in Wales. The chartiy acts as the voice of the sector, influencing the development and implementation of policy, legislation and practice that affects our members and the people they support.
