Wedding FAQs

Can we book our wedding all year round at the Temple of Peace?

Yes, absolutely! We are available to take wedding bookings throughout the whole year at the Temple of Peace.

How many guests can you accommodate?

The Marble Hall can accommodate 160 guests for a sit-down meal and a maximum of 200 for your evening party. Smaller ceremonies and wedding receptions for up to 60 guests can be held in our upstairs Council Chamber.

Would it be possible to have our wedding ceremony at the Temple?

We are fully licensed to hold wedding ceremonies at the Temple of Peace and we’d be delighted if you’d consider us for your all day celebrations, from the ceremony and the reception and all the way through until the end of your evening party.

How long do we have the use of the Temple of Peace on the day?

Depending on our availability and the previous day’s bookings, you may able to set up the day before your wedding, or on the morning of your celebrations. Due to our location and licensing restrictions, we have a finish time of midnight. (Please note that the bar stops serving half an hour before our closing time.)

Will you be hosting any other weddings at the same time as ours?

We only ever take one wedding booking per day, so we guarantee that our venue will be exclusively yours for your special day.

What time would we be able to start setting up for our wedding?

You are able to set up on the morning of your wedding from 9am, depending upon the time your celebrations start, however if the venue is not in use the day prior to your wedding, you would be welcome to come in the day before set up, up to 5pm. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t be able to commit to this or confirm until the week before your wedding.

What are the guidelines for decorations?

You are very welcome to bring decorations into the Temple for your wedding, however we request that candles be displayed in lanterns rather than directly onto tables, to prevent these being knocked over. We also ask that you do not use helium-filled balloons in the Marble Hall, as our ceilings are very high and if they escape, we cannot get them down without a scaffolding rig! We only permit rose petal confetti outside the entrance. Unfortunately, paper confetti (even biodegradable) creates a mess on the ground outside and our neighbours get upset!

What does the venue provide and what do we need to hire in?

We have sufficient round tables to seat your guests (a maximum of 10 guests per table), 8 trestle tables (for the top table, cake table, guest book table etc), gold banqueting chairs and an easel at the Temple, which you can make use of at no additional cost.

We also have uplighters, a PA system and microphones, however please note that the PA system is only suitable for speeches & background music. Unfortunately, evening music cannot be played through this and so you would need to hire in equipment or a band/DJ for this separately. We can recommend local companies who could arrange this for you. Linens, crockery, cutlery and glassware as well as a cake stand and knife are provided by our catering partners Sue Franks Catering as part of their service.

Do you have a list of preferred caterers? Can we see sample menus?

Our wedding catering & bar services are provided by our in-house catering team. For Asian weddings and Mehndis, we offer a selection of catering partners, depending upon your requirements.

Sample wedding menus & bar tariffs can be viewed here.

Can we bring our own alcohol? If so, what corkage do you charge?

Unfortunately, corkage is not an option at the Temple of Peace. All bar services are provided by our in-house catering team, who will be delighted to discuss any particular requirements you may have.

Examples of our drinks menus and bar tariffs are available to view here.

Do you have the option of a paid bar?

Yes, we offer a cash and card bar or can discuss paid bar options with you.

Can this venue accommodate a band or DJ, including all of their equipment?

Yes! We love live music, DJ’s and a good party at the Temple and as long as your band or DJ can provide us with their PAT testing certification in advance of your wedding date, they are most welcome!

Do you have disabled access?

Yes, we have an external ramp leading to our front entrance and internal lifts, suitable for disabled access.

When do we need to pay our deposit?

We permit you to hold a provisional booking with us for two weeks, after which time, we request a deposit (£250 for ceremony only bookings or £500 for receptions) or we would need to release your date for other bookings. A further payment of 50% of outstanding balance is due six months prior and the remaining balance is required 60 days before your wedding date.

Would there be a venue coordinator available on the day?

Most of our couples designate a bridesmaid or groomsman to do this, however we can arrange a co-ordinator on request. Our catering team can provide an on the day wedding co-ordinator for an additional fee of £225.

Is VAT included in the price?

There is no VAT payable to the Temple of Peace.

Are fireworks permitted?

Unfortunately, fireworks and Chinese lanterns are not permitted inside or outside the building, due to restrictions in place by our landlords. We also do not permit balloon, butterfly or dove releases, due to the adverse impact on our natural world.

For a full list of restricted items, please refer to our Terms & Conditions of booking.

How would car-parking work on the day?

We can offer a limited amount of parking access for suppliers and the wedding party. There are ANPR cameras so all vehicles requiring access to the Temple car park must be arranged in advance.
